Destiny

Before the holidays, a client of mine shared a poem that his wife posted in their house: “Watch your thoughts, they become words; watch your words, they become actions; watch your actions, they become habits; watch your habits, they become character; watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.” - Frank Outlaw We can focus on whatever grabs our attention and allow our destiny to evolve at the whim of the world, or we can choose our destiny and choose character, habits, actions, words and thoughts that support that destiny. As we head into a new year, I’m wondering what would happen if we made a concerted effort to align our thoughts, words, actions, habits and character to a destiny that will improve the world for generations to come. What would happen if our new years resolutions were linked to a higher life purpose – something that is core to who we want to be and what we want to do for others? Work the poem backwards. How does this exercise change what you resolve to be, do and think about differently this year? If you want to stop letting life steer you and start steering your own life and leadership, I’d love to partner with you in that process; let’s find a time to talk.
